The automobile industry was revolutionized with the invention of the Model T. The T’s affordability (half the price of the average car in 1908) caused the automobile’s transformation from a toy for the wealthy, into a hard-working vehicle for all Americans.[30] From 1905 to 1925 the number of registered vehicles in the U.S. skyrocketed from 79,000 to 20.1 million, mainly as a result of the T.[31] That number continued to grow. Clearly, today's multibillion dollar industry was sparked the Model T. Its practicality and superior craftsmanship caused the T to become the standard for automobiles produced in the U.S., including both the left-side steering wheel and Vanadium steel for the body.
